HB Loyer (Bernie)
For the last 40 years I have been immersed in the global mining industry from Australia to Argentina, from Copenhagen to Perth. And many points in between, helping to build and lead high performance teams, often in challenging landscapes and circumstances. Most recently, I directed the construction and operation of a large gold mining project near Acapulco.
I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University, with a bachelors in Tourism. I spent the early years of my career running rivers, experiencing the Colorado, Snake, Futelefu and Apurimac, and most of all the Arkansas in the central Rockies of Colorado. For the last 12 years I have owned and operated Ice Pirates and Rock Pirates, offering excursions into the San Juan Mountains from a base in Silverton Colorado. Those tours by snowmobile of Molas Pass at 12,000´ and of the Alpine Loop remain core to our business and passion. And along the journey created the platform for evolving the business to now launch Baja Rock Pirates, offering guided tours of Baja California´s beautiful back country. Whether navigating the Alpine Loop between Silverton and Lake City, or taking Compadre Trail from Valle Guadalupe to Mike´s Sky Ranch, I figure I have the best job in the world. I get to do all of that for my team, my clients and most of all for my two boys Robert and Henry.
